Going for the GOLD!ย

At Gold Rush we strive to Go For the GOLD everyday.ย

G=Give Respect

O= Own Your Actions

L= Listen and Learn

D= Do Your Best

Here are some examples of what that means to our newest students!

(And is there anything cuter than Kindergarten art??)ย

Our whole staff is excited to welcome a new class of kindergarteners into the Gold Rush Family!

Below you will find some of the same information that you should have received in my welcome email!ย

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!!ย

WELCOME TO OUR CLASS!ย

1. Letter

I would love the chance to get to know your child a little bit before the school year starts.ย  Please email me a short letter letting me know about your child.ย  This can include interests, favorites, hobbies, any worries, information about them both socially and academically, and how they will get home at the end of the day (Parents walk up to the dismissal door, bus, car loop, siblings, etc.).ย  Please also attach a favorite, recent picture of your child with your email. Please email your letter and picture ASAP but at least by August 3rd.ย

2. Snacks, Lunch, and More:

Please be sure to read through the attached Welcome Packet for all of the info needed on lunch, snacks, procedures, etc. Kids are encouraged to bring a full water bottle and two snacks for AM/PM recess. We do have some severe allergies in kindergarten. Since kids eat snacks outside we prefer that their snacks be NUT FREE. Lunch items MAY contain nuts as children with severe allergies will be eating separately. Thank you for your understanding!ย

3. Balanced Beginnings, Picture Day, and the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:

Kindergarten students have a transitional start to the school year referred to by the District as Balanced Beginnings. Kindergarten students will meet with a small group of students on August 8th, 9th or 10th for two hours. You will drop off your child and pick them up for this at our classroom's exterior door.ย

Students will get to know a few classmates and partake in engaging activities. We will begin to build community and learn individual children's social, emotional and academic strengths and needs.ย  Students will take their picture with you between 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on the day you have signed up for.ย

Parents will need to sign up for Balanced Beginnings if you have not yet done so. Here is our link: Mrs. Padrnos' Balanced Beginning Sign Up Link

Kindergarten studentsโ€™ first full day of school is Friday, August 11th. I will meet students at our classroom door at 8:20.ย  You are then invited to a Tears and Cheers Breakfast in our cafeteria at 8:45AM. This is a great opportunity to meet other new families and parents of kindergarteners!ย

๏ปฟ4. Back to School Night:

Classroom teachers will provide parents with an overview of the school year on Wednesday, August 23rd, during the following two Back to School Night sessions: 4:30-5:00 PM or 5:10-5:40 PM. The principal will share school celebrations, upcoming goals and important community information in the gym from 4:15-4:30 PM. We hope you will join us for these informative sessions.

5. Arrival and Dismissal:

ARRIVAL

Gold Rush has had tremendous success with our rolling start! If you are returning to Gold Rush, you are aware that all students enter our classroom exterior door between 8:20-8:30 AM.ย  Parents/siblings typically walk their kindie to our door for the first weeks of the year and then as they become more confident and comfortable, they are often dropped off in the car loop. Some parents walked them to the door every day to say goodbye! Whatever works best for your family and child is great. If you arrive after 8:30, students need to come in through the office front doors and check in there before heading to the classroom.ย ย

DISMISSAL

Our class will be dismissed at 3:20. I will open the outside door to our classroom and release the kids to their adult at that time.ย  If a sibling is picking them up, we will wait until the sibling arrives. If the student is going to car loop, I will walk them there at 3:30. If your child is riding the bus....an adult staff member will walk them to the bus loop.ย

6. Supply List:

Here is the link to our kindergarten supply list. Please send all supplies with your student when they come to Balanced Beginnings. Thank you! If you purchased a supplies kit through the school, it will be delivered directly to our classroom.ย
