Meet Mrs. Wright

Hi! My name is Michelle Wright and I am beyond excited to be your child's second grade teacher! Here’s a little bit about me:

I began my career 26 years ago in Pennsylvania where I taught first and second grades. I was also a TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) for staff development which gave me the opportunity to encourage, empower and support teachers with continued growth. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Boston College and completed my Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology and Media from Teachers College, Columbia University. In 2010, I relocated to the beautiful state of Colorado. Shortly thereafter, I joined the Cherry Creek School District as a third grade teacher at Cimarron Elementary School. After my time at Cimarron, I began teaching third grade at Gold Rush Elementary School, where I have had the pleasure of working for the past five years. It has been a wonderful experience.

My husband, Stan, and I have four beautiful children; a senior at CU Boulder, a junior at Lutheran High School and identical twin girls in ninth grade at Cherry Creek Elevation. We enjoy traveling, camping, going to Broncos games, climbing 14ers, spending time outdoors, game nights and playing with our crazy dog – Parker! Our family loves to go to Sanibel, Florida in the summer where we relax, ride bikes, swim, go shelling, fish and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

I strive to bring stimulating, engaging learning opportunities to my classroom as well as a fun and collaborative atmosphere where students grow as learners and as friends. My philosophy is to create a “growth-mindset zone” - a classroom community where students feel safe, respected, challenged and heard. My wish for our students is that they thoroughly enjoy and take ownership of their school experiences so they can become lifelong learners and leaders. In our year together, I hope our students learn much about themselves and how they can contribute positively to our community. Learning is messy and involves setbacks, taking risks and making mistakes. It cannot happen without fostering a growth mindset in students.

An inclusive and successful learning experience involves the teachers, students, parents and the community. I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead! Together, we can look forward to a positive, inspiring and exciting year!
